Marian Schoettle established her professional name "mau" in Philadelphia in 1978. Marian's (Mau's) work is known as post industrial folk wear. She uses products that are normally industrial waste such as surplus hardwear and paint. Mau's most significant body of work to date is made from Tyvek a water resistant material used to make packaging for mail.
